Hyundai Digital Key 2

Use your mobile device to lock, unlock and start your car.

With the Hyundai Digital Key 2 in your wallet app, you can lock, unlock, and start your vehicle using just your smartphone. Hyundai Digital Key 2 uses advanced near-field communication (NFC) and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology to recognize when you're nearby and automatically unlock the doors. It’s secure, seamless, and fully integrated into your myHyundai experience.

Your smartphone starts your car.

It’s never been easier. If you have your smartphone with you inside the vehicle, all you have to do is push the brake and the start button – and you’re ready to drive off.

Share with up to 15 people.

In addition to the owner’s key, 15 additional digital keys can be shared with family and friends. You can send someone a “shared key" from clear across the country which will be added to their wallet app.

Hyundai Digital Key 2 Touch

Lock, unlock and start your car with your mobile device.

In addition to the traditional smart key, vehicles equipped with Hyundai Digital Key 2 Touch can be locked, unlocked and started via smart phones or Apple Watch. And you can share Hyundai Digital Key 2 Touch with up to 15 additional people – so your family or friends can enjoy access to the vehicle after saving it in their phone’s wallet.

Your mobile device is your car key.

With Hyundai Digital Key 2 Touch, you lock or unlock the car by simply holding your smartphone against the driver or passenger door handle.

To start the vehicle, simply place your smartphone in the wireless charger, push the start button and you’re ready to go.

Security

Safe and secure.

Stored in the wallet app of your mobile device, Hyundai Digital Key 2 and Hyundai Digital Key 2 Touch utilise Near Field Communication (NFC), and Hyundai Digital Key 2 utilises ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, which both offer a high level of security thanks to modern encryption technologies. NFC prevents the car from being accessed by others when you just happen to be nearby.

Getting started

Activating Hyundai Digital Key.

There are three different ways to activate your Hyundai Digital Key 2 and Hyundai Digital Key 2 Touch. You can find the step-by-step instructions for all three below. If you are using a Samsung smartphone, please be aware that Hyundai digital keys are not available in all countries yet, but will be added in accordance to Samsung's service coverage.
  1. A smartphone with the Hyundai Digital Key functionality on the screen.

    Activate via myHyundai app.

    1. Prepare your items: Make sure you have both of your smart (physical) keys and your mobile device with you in the car.
    2. Start your vehicle: Turn the vehicle on. For automatic transmissions, shift into “P” . For manual, keep the vehicle stationary.
    3. Open the myHyundai app: You’ll see a prompt on the screen inviting you to register your Digital Key. Tap “Register” to begin the setup.
    4. Follow wallet instructions: Once you have registered the Digital Key, your phone’s Wallet app ( Apple, Google or Samsung Wallet) will open. Follow the on-screen instructions to continue the pairing process.
    5. Place your device: If you're activating Digital Key 2 Touch, place your mobile device on the wireless charging pad in your vehicle (only for Hyundai Digital Key 2 Touch).
    6. Complete pairing in the vehicle: On your vehicle’s infotainment screen, go to: [Setup] → [Vehicle] → [ Digital Key ] → [Smartphone Key] , then tap “Save ” to complete the setup.

    Activate using a URL link.

    1. Prepare your items: Make sure you have both of your smart (physical) keys and your mobile device with you in the car. 
    2. Start your vehicle: Turn the vehicle on. For automatic transmissions, shift into “P”. For manual, keep the vehicle stationary.
    3. Check your email: Please check your email for your activation code and URL link, which you should have received as an email. If you are unable to find this email with the URL link and activation code, please ensure you check your spam folder, or open the myHyundai app and follow this process to have the email resent.
      1. In the myHyundai app, tap "My" in the lower right corner
      2. Then tap the "Vehicle management" icon next to your vehicle.
      3. Then tap "Digital key management".
      4. Then tap "Add" on the popup that asks: "No digital key registered. Do you want to register a digital key?". If a digital key is already registered, you will need to reset this digital key to restart the activation of your digital key.
      5. Then tap "Instructions via email" in the “Digital key guide”.
      6. A popup will appear that says: "The digital key registration instructions have been successfully sent." The email will be sent to your registered email address.

    Activate using an activation code.

    2. Start your vehicle: Turn the vehicle on. For automatic transmissions, shift into “P”. For manual, keep the vehicle stationary. 
    3. Place your device: Place your mobile device on the wireless charging pad in your vehicle. 
    4. Start pairing in the vehicle: On your vehicle’s infotainment screen, go to: [Setup] → [Vehicle] → [Digital Key] → [Smartphone Key]. Click the “Save” button to pair your Hyundai Digital Key 2 (Touch).  
    5. Once pairing has started, your mobile device will ask you to enter the activation code, which you should have received as an email. 
    6. Check your email: Please check your email for your activation code and URL link, which you should have received as an email. If you are unable to find this email with the URL link and activation code, please open the myHyundai app and follow this process to have the email resent.
      1. In the myHyundai app, tap "My" in the lower right corner.
      2. Then tap the "Vehicle management" icon next to your vehicle. 
      3. Then tap "Digital key management".
