Electric vehicles in Ireland with a list price of up to €60,000 that are privately purchased qualify for an ‘SEAI Grant’ of up to €5,000. Usually arranged on your behalf via your retailer/dealership it means that in most purchases the final price of your electric vehicle is reduced by €5,000. The Department of Transport announced on 22nd March 2023 that this grant will be reduced from €5,000 to €3,500 for all orders placed from 1st July 2023. This means it is generally increasing the final price of many new electric vehicles by €1,500. Customers who order a qualifying electric vehicle before this deadline will have a four month timeframe in order for the vehicle to be registered.
